Support Tenth Muse Initiative this GiveOUT Day

Today is GiveOUT Day, a national day of fundraising for those who support our LGBTQIA+ communities.

We’re raising funds to professionally record Sapphic Serenade, our 2024 concert that featured a celebration of music written by sapphic composers. Presented during Perth Pride, the performance was a sold-out success that paired string quartets and voice with a twilight market of queer-owned businesses. It was stunning, affirming, and historic, but like all live concerts, it ended with the final note.
At the core of the program was ‘someone will remember us’ a new TMI commission by Perth composer Rose Russell (she/her), setting the words of Sappho, the ancient Greek poet whose surviving work only exists in fragments. Without recording, this piece risks the same fate: being lost to time. By recording Sapphic Serenade, we preserve Rose’s commission alongside centuries of sapphic voices, ensuring that they are remembered and continue to be celebrated.
Funds raised will support artist fees, studio hire and production costs, ensuring that musicians are paid fairly. If we exceed our goal, we will publish the score to Rose’s piece, making it accessible to performers everywhere and securing its place in history. With your support, Sapphic Serenade becomes more than a concert; it becomes a legacy.
