    A Modern Reveal: Songs and Stories of Women Composers is an online resource dedicated to promoting the vocal works and stories of historical female composers who have been overlooked for centuries.

  • Alliance for Women Film Composers

    The AWFC set out to change the landscape of equity in music for visual media. By creating a directory, events, performances, gatherings, advocacy and partnerships, the AWFC has begun to shift the tide of equity in Hollywood and beyond. What began as a series of conversations, has turned into a powerful engaged community of plural voices committed to inclusion.

  • And we were heard

    Composers that submit works to … And We Were Heard are matched with top-notch ensembles and engage in collaborative recording sessions. The resulting audio tracks are hosted on their site along with innovative ideas of how to support diverse voices in music.

  • Archiv Frau und Musik

    The Archiv Frau und Musik is an international music archive based in Frankfurt. It is the world's largest and most important archive of music by female composers and was founded in Cologne in 1979 on the initiative of the conductor Elke Mascha Blankenburg .

  • Boulanger Initiative

    Boulanger Initiative advocates for women and all gender marginalized composers. They promote music composed by women through performance, education, research, consulting, and commissions.

  • Castle of our Skins

    Born out of the desire to foster cultural curiosity, Castle of our Skins is a concert and educational series dedicated to celebrating Black artistry through music. From classrooms to concert halls, Castle of our Skins invites exploration into ​Black heritage and culture, spotlighting both unsung and celebrated ​figures of past and present.

  • Diversify the Stand

    Diversify the Stand provides accessible educational music for younger musicians through commissioning composers of color, gender-marginalized composers, and composers identifying as LGBTQ+.

  • Decolonizing the Music Room

    Helping music educators develop critical practices through research, training and discourse to build a more equitable future. DTMR provides sessions, consultation, and speeches on decolonizing and antiracist philosophies and approaches to organizations, districts, colleges, and conferences across the United States and in Canada.

    DONNE is a charitable foundation that is making a positive change in the fight against gender inequality within the music industry. Their main goal is to celebrate, advance, and amplify women in music so that they are seen, heard, and appreciated for their talent so they can leave a legacy of inspiration for future generations.

  • Hensel Pushers

    HenselPushers exists to share and celebrate the work of Fanny Mendelssohn Hensel. By making her compositions more accessible, they invite musicians to explore and engage with her work.

  • Institute for Composer Diversity

    The Institute for Composer Diversity is dedicated to the celebration, education, and advocacy of music created by composers from historically underrepresented groups through database resources and programming analysis.

  • International Alliance for Women in Music

    The IAWM is the world’s leading organization devoted to the equity, promotion, and advocacy of women in music across time, cultures, and genres.

    A resource for singers, teachers, performers, and the supporters of art song by women composers.

  • Living Music Report

    The Living Music Report is a survey of musical programming within the Australian Major Performing Arts Organisations of 2020. The survey records and summarises information on every work played across 2020, capturing key information on composers, pieces and more.

  • Many Many Women

    Many Many Women is an index of 1000+ composers, improvisers, and global sound makers

  • Music by Black Composers

    MBC aim to inspire Black students to begin and continue instrumental training.

    They aim to make the music of Black composers available to everyone. They want to help to change the face of classical music through greater diversity.

  • Piano Music She Wrote

    Piano Music She Wrote is a project which helps us explore the world of piano music composed by women. Pianists Erica Sipes and Sandra Mogensen have sorted through the entirety of IMSLP, and have compiled the PMSW Directory.

  • Wildflower Composers

    They aim to amplify the voices of women and gender-marginalized composers and work toward a more equitable future for contemporary music

  • Women's Philharmonic Advocacy

    They celebrate the vast range of orchestral music by women, and encourage orchestras to program it! They work to reveal the centuries of music by women, much of it lost to history due to gender bias – and help provide information and resources to make that music available.

    The music publisher Furore Verlag, which was founded in 1986,is dedicated solely to the music of women composers.

    ClarNan Editions are a division of Classical Vocal Reprints that includes scores of vocal music by women composers

  • Cor Donato Editions

    Cor Donato Editions was formed in 2011 expressly for publishing the music of Barbara Strozzi in clear, scholarly, faithful modern editions.
